Cyber threat now a diplomatic and intelligence priority?

U.S. President Barack Obama made clear two months into his presidency that cybersecurity would be a top priority. On 12 January 2010, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told in a statement that cyber-attacks against Google "raise very serious concerns and questions". She asked the Chinese government for an explanation in order to clarify the facts and discover who/what was behind such hostile actions. Indeed, beyond the threat these attacks pose to national security, Clinton's declarations and recent initiatives led by the Congress gave strong political and diplomatic significance to the cyberspace (1) as a whole and to its role as a "freedom maker".
