Tensions over Taiwan make unlikely new sanctions against Iran

Tension is rising over Iran. Yet this is an unrelated issue that could prevent the United States and its allies from further sanctioning Iran for the continuation of its nuclear program Western countries say it does not comply with the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT, of which Iran is a signatory) and which purpose would be military rather than civilian as Tehran claims. On 31 January 2010, Iranian FM Manouchehr Mottaki said that Tehran does not take seriously the statement made by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over failure of U.S. offers to negotiate with Iran over nuclear program. Actually, two weeks ago ISRIA analysts pointed out a real potential of a worsening in the bilateral relations between the United States and the People's Republic of China (PRC) due to ongoing U.S. arms sales to Taiwan.
