Saudi Arabia is keen to enhance Syrian-Saudi relations

Chairman of Saudi Shura Council Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh stressed that Saudi Arabia is keen to enhance the existing Syrian-Saudi relations.

Al-Sheikh is visiting Syria to participate in the 5th Conference of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) due to be held in Damascus from November 28 to December 1.

He indicated the importance of this conference as it is to be held in Syria in addition to the various issues listed on the conference agenda, particularly supporting the Palestinian people and the risks of Israel's possessing of nuclear weapons.

The conference resembles a move towards serious work and implementation of what has been agreed upon in Indonesia, he added.

For his part, Speaker of the People's Assembly Mahmoud al-Abrash highlighted the deep Syrian-Saudi relations, indicating to the vigorous efforts exerted to activate the APA's role in international circles.

The APA was born in 2006 at the Seventh Session of the Association of Asian Parliamentary for Peace. It comprises 41 member parliaments.
