Sudan - Al Bashir Affirms Keenness for Establishment of Broad-based Government

President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al Bashir, has reiterated the keenness to form a broad-based govenment and carry out dialogue with all the political parties, including parties that did not contest in the elections.

In a meeting Sunday at the Republican Palace with Chairman of African Union Panel on Darfur, Thabo Mbeki, Sunday in the presence Pierrre Nkurunziza, the former President of Burundi, President Al Bashir emphasized the keenness for implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and finding a solution for Darfur issue.

In press statement following the meeting, Mbeki said that the meeting discussed formation of a broad-based government in Sudan, conducting dialogue with the political forces with concentration on the important issues so as to arrive at a common stance and political understanding.

Mbeki said that he will meet with the First Vice - President, Salva Kiir, in Juba. He said that President Al Bashir's briefing will help the Panel go ahead with its mission.
