Sudanese Government reveals UNMIS support to SPLM in Abyei
The Government of Sudan has presented a number of notes on United
Nations Mission in Sudan UNMIS violating the mandate controlling
of the mission.
A high-ranking source unveiled to SMC that the violations conducted by UNMIS have cancelled the mission's neutrality, pointing out that the violations include transporting number of Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) senior figures to achieve missions serving interests of the movement in addition to mediating to retrieve split elements from SPLM.
The mission has been monitoring movements of Sudan Armed Force in addition to providing SPLM with air cover via satellites. Further, the source stated that the UNMIS participated in transporting elements of Darfur armed groups from Darfur to south Sudan besides funding electoral campaigns of SLPM throughout general elections and south Kurdufan Supplementary Elections in addition to adopting SPLM discourse on Radio Miraya.
The source rejected linking the violations to government stance stressing in ending the UNMIS mandate as it has been scheduled, affirming that the mandate is managed by legal procedures and definite timeframe. He said that the government has powerful evidence on violations conducted by the mission.
