Belarus and the European Union will resolve the issues they face

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko gives an interview to Euronews

In the near future, Belarus and the European Union will resolve the issues they face in their bilateral relations, said President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in an interview to Euronews on December 20, 2010.

The Euronews journalists and the President talked about the presidential election campaign and the state of relations between Belarus, the European Union and Russia.

The Head of State, answering the question concerning international observers' assessment of the presidential election campaign, said: "It is an enormous step forward comparing with 2006, and it could be a basis for us to build up our relations with Europe." He added, "Those who really want to see the situation in Belarus in an unbiased way, see it exactly this way."

Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus and the EU had quite a few problems, but they were expected to be resolved in the near future. "All this will pass; this is artificial. The only thing I ask of you is objectivity, which is still lacking in reports about Belarus."
