Ahmadinejad sees Lebanon as a center of resistance against expansionist powers

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Lebanon was today a center for resistance and confronting excess-seeking powers.

The President made the remarks while talking to reporters prior to leaving the country for Lebanon for a two-day official visit.

He said the most important objective of his trip to Lebanon is to strengthen ties between Iranian and Lebanese nations and promote fraternity between them.

Saying that Iranís presence in any arena calls for particular conditions and brings about special situations, he noted that it was only natural for the enemies to resist such a presence. However, he stressed, Iran did not care about the enemies.

Dr.Ahmadinejad referred to boosting scientific, cultural, economic, and political and tourism relations between the two countries among the most important objectives of his visit and said Iranian and Lebanese officials would discuss regional and international issues during his visit.

He said his visit was taking place in return for the visit of his Lebanese counterpart to Iran.

Stressing that tie between Iran and Lebanon has always been so strong and long-standing; the president said relations between the two countries grew stronger after the victory of the Islamic revolution in Iran.

President Ahmadinejad left Tehran for Beirut on an official visit this morning upon the invitation of Lebanonís President Michel Suleiman and in the framework of developing political relations and deepening economic, cultural, and political cooperation.
